Scanning a product in Maplists pulls its details from open product databases and surfaces a few things worth a second look before it goes in the cart.
Where the data comes from
Product info comes from community reviews, barcode scans, and open product databases (the Open Food Facts family). It's crowd-sourced and broad, not a lab report — so treat it as a helpful signal, not gospel.
What gets flagged
- Seed oils — counted from the ingredient list, so you can see at a glance how processed something is.
- Additives — colorants, preservatives and the like, surfaced with a plain-language note.
- Ingredients, in order — the label as written, so you can read prominence by weight.
Why a count, not a verdict
We show counts and context, not a single "good/bad" score, because what matters depends on you. A number you can scan in a second beats a grade that pretends to know your priorities.
If a barcode isn't found, you can add it — your contribution helps the next person who scans it.
